Create sustainable crafts on Åland in October

Upcycling * and design with Jenny Holmlund and Jenny Lantz

In collaboration with Ålands slöjd & konsthantverk, NIPÅ is arranging the SUSTAINABLE CRAFTS ÅLAND 5-8 October. Four days of workshops, lectures and exhibitions focusing on sustainability, arts, crafts, design and upcycling. Emmaus Åland contributes material to the workshops.

Program

October 5: Vernissage JENNYVEXALA

Handmade, upcycled accessories and clothes by Jenny Holmlund / JENNYVEXALA.

JENNYVEXALA creates something new from the broken. Purposeful search for raw materials from used and outdated leather jackets, long-lasting military tents and worn-out shirts. Drawings are produced with the utmost precision. Puzzle pieces are placed against puzzle pieces and layers of rhythmic and geometric patterns take shape.

October 6: Lecture JENNYVEXALA

"With boundaries and frameworks as motivation for creativity". Jenny Holmlund / JENNYVEXALA talks about her creation and the line she has chosen to connect to in her work. How to think about making new from old and how the connection to the Finnish-Swedish childhood village is expressed

October 7: Workshop for craftsmen with Jenny Holmlund / JENNYVEXALA and Jenny Lantz

"Together we build a monument" A workshop where we ask questions and seek answers. Where you, with your own creativity as a tool, get to work with questions about inner and outer identity. Participants will work with different textile techniques and expressions. The focus will be on reuse. The workshops are led by craftsmen and designers Jenny Holmlund / JENNYVEXALA (FI / SE) and Jenny Lantz (SE / AX). read more here

Location: Åland Folk High School. Folkhögskolevägen 41, Pålsböle

October 8: Workshop for children with Jenny Holmlund / JENNYVEXALA and Jenny Lantz
