What is Story Sharing Café?

A social gathering where sharing your own everyday experiences and listening to others is made easy and fun! All you need is an open mind and an interest for new people. We start by sitting in small groups at coffee tables and sharing our everyday experiences and memories – small or big – guided by the members of the Story Sharing Universum group (FI). Our special storytelling guests, skilled musicians and open story sharing mic make for a heart-warming and thoroughly enjoyable event! The café is organized by the Story Sharing Universum project which helps immigrants, asylum seekers and Finns to meet and share stories together.

Languages: English, Swedish, Finnish, Farsi, Pastho, Russian, Slovenian (and possibly more).

Puneh Oriental offers coffe/tea during the event and Bosnian and American pastries will be available. (Please note only cash)

Story sharing allows me to connect many people from all around the world. It builds roads to their heart and mind, and shows that I am not so different from them. “ – Ali Meriluoto, former asylum seeker, Story Sharing group member, Iran

Story Sharing Café on Åland is made possible by Nordens Institut på Åland and Mariehamns Stadsbibliotek in cooperation with Kompassen, Emmaus Åland, Röda Korset, Ålands mångkulturella förening, Puneh Oriental and Ålands litteraturförening.
