OPEN CALL: gränsløs.gif

Inspireras av temat gränser och gränslöshet, gör en rörlig gif, och skicka in ditt bidrag senast 6 november 2016!

Bland de inskickade bidragen väljer en jury ut 10 gif:er som bildar utställningen gränslös.gif som visas på Åland januari-april 2017.

Varje utvald kreatör får motta ett stipendie på 300 euro för sitt deltagande i utställningen. Det är öppet för vem som helst som bor i Norden eller Baltikum att delta. Observera de tekniska kraven för att delta.

Vad är en gräns? Vad innebär gränslöshet?

Det sägs att kreativitet föds ut kaos. Men inför det gränslösa står vi mållösa utan en riktning och utan någon aning om var vi skall börja eller ta vid. Var går gränsen mellan total kreativ frihet och behovet av ramar för att kunna skapa? Behöver vi tillgång till det gränslösa inom ramen för våra människliga begränsningar för att kunna vara kreativa och skapande varelser? Den inspirerande gränsen.

Gränsens natur är inte en mur men en rörlig, föränderlig förutsättning och möjlighet för liv. Gränsen som skapar dig och mig – utan vilken vi inte vore någonting eller allting på en gång. Där gränslöshet kunde liknas vid ett svart hål? Den dynamiska och existentiella gränsen.

Kärlek är gränslös sägs det. Kärlek är också att kommunicera sina gränser, och visa respekt för andras. Kan vi minska uppkomsten av konflikter genom en öppen kommunikation om gränser? Är det först när vi kan kommunicera gränser, och därmed vara fullt medvetna om dem, som vi kan respektera och acceptera dem, förändra dem eller göra oss av med dem? Vad innebär det här ur ett fredsperspektiv? Vad innebär det här ur ett (im)migrationsperspektiv? Den personliga, sociala och politiska gränsen.

När du skickar in din .gif fil per mail var noga med att skriva ditt hela namn i mailet också, så vi vet vems .gif:en är och kan koppla den till ditt anmälningsformulär.

Bara en komplett ansökan (ifyllt formulär och inskickad .gif) betraktas.

Önskar du vara anonym i utställningen om du skulle bli utvald? Detta betyder att vi inte skriver ut ditt namn vid din .gif i utställningen eller i texter om utställningen. Kom då ihåg att kruxa för det alternativet i anmälningsformuläret.

OBS! Genom att du skickar in ditt bidrag går du med på att Nordens Institut på Åland får rättigheterna att använda ditt bidrag i utställningen gränslös.gif och marknadsföringen av utställningen skulle ditt bidrag bli utvalt av juryn. Samma gäller även i framtiden om utställningen reser vidare och visas på andra ställen. Du är också medveten om att stipendiet på 300 euro är ett engångsstipendie ifall ditt bidrag blir utvalt för utställningen, oberoende av hur många gånger utställningen gränslös.gif visas.

Get inspired by the theme “With and without borders”, make a moving .gif and send us your contribution by 6th November 2016!

From all of the contributions received, a jury will choose ten that will be included in the exhibition gränslös.gif, to be shown on the Åland Islands during January-April 2017.

Each chosen artist will receive a remuneration of 300 euros for his/her participation in the exhibition. We are open for contributions from anyone residing in the Nordic or Baltic countries. Please do observe the technical requirements.

What is a border? What does it mean to be without borders?

It is said that creativity is born out of chaos. However, faced with a lack of borders we stand speechless, without a feeling of direction or of knowing where to start. Where do we draw the line between total creative freedom and our need for borders in order to create? Do we need the possibility of freedom from borders within the frame of our own human limitations to be able to be creative creatures? The inspiring border.

The nature of borders is not the same as that of walls, it is rather a moving, changing condition and a possibility for life. Borders create you and me – without them we would be nothing or everything at once. A place with no borders could be compared to a black hole. The dynamic and existential border.

Love has no limits or borders. Love also means to communicate one’s own borders, and to show respect for those of others. Can we reduce the number of conflicts through an open dialogue about borders? Is it only then, when we are able to talk about borders and thus become fully conscious of them, that we can respect and accept them, change them or get rid of them? What does this mean from a peace perspective? What does this mean from a (im)migration perspective? The personal, social and political border.

Registration

You can register between 28.9-6.11.2016

• Step 1: Fill in the registration form online here. Please do observe that some of the questions require longer answers and that the form cannot be saved to fill in later.
• Step 2: Send your .gif file to helena.vonschoultz(a)nipa.ax by 6.11.2016. When you send your .gif file, please make sure that you write down your full name in the e-mail so that we know who’s .gif it is and can connect it to your registration form.

Only a complete registration (a filled in form and your .gif file) will be considered by the jury.

Would you like to be anonymous in the exhibition should your work be chosen? This means that we never put your name next to your .gif or in any texts relating to the exhibition. If yes, please do remember to choose that option in the registration form.

Please observe! By sending us your contribution you give Nordens Institut på Åland the right to show your work in the exhibition gränslös.gif and use it in the marketing of the exhibition, if your work is chosen by the jury. The same applies in the future should the exhibition travel and be shown elsewhere. You are aware that the remuneration of 300 euros is a one time remuneration regardless of how often the exhibition gränslös.gif is shown.
