the Swedish Culture Fund

The Swedish Cultural Foundation supports Swedish culture and education, the Swedish language and Finnish-speaking activities in Finland

The foundations main task is to grant scholarships and contributions to individuals, working groups and communities. In addition, the fund helps develop project ideas and also initiates and prepares projects within the Fund's areas of activity. The Swedish Cultural Foundation was founded in 1908 and is today an umbrella designation for over 400 funds, introduced through the wills and gifts from private individuals, communities and companies.

The Swedish Cultural Foundation acts for

  • to support and strengthen the Swedish language and Swedish operations in Finland
  • to develop knowledge, skills and creativity among Fin-swedes in Finland
  • to support Finnish-Swedish affinity and identity
  • to support the social bearings of the Swedish language in Finland
