Concert with RKDIA at Alandica

Dream pop and power

The Nordic Institute on Åland is very pleased to be able to present RKDIA - they promise us emotional, dreamlike as well as heavy beats.

Power-house duo

RKDIA (pronounced "Arkadia"), is a power-house duo that plays electronic, dreamy pop and an improvised beat music that shows a whole new path in the musical area. The duo with Morten Schantz (DK) on keyboard and Anton Eger (SE) on drums, have toured over large parts of the world since the mid-2000s and they have now created their very own niche in jazz and club music. They have the rare ability to combine complexity and simplicity that moves the listener emotionally into a new, hidden, musical world.

Over the years, Schantz has distilled a unique voice that includes elements from jazz, pop, electronic as well as classical music.

After completing his Advanced Post Graduate Soloist diploma at RMC, he has also worked with classical ensembles and mixes his composing tools with strength and technique.

"- Schantz can embrace a carefully constructed dramaturgy that often explodes into melodic hooks that are so grand that they would fit a stadium." (Quote from All About Jazz.)

Anton Eger

Eger was born in Oslo, Norway but grew up in Romania, Venezuela and Sweden and then moved to Copenhagen, Denmark. There he spent five years at The Rhythmic Music Conservatory between 2003-2008. Anton Eger worked his way from teenage punk band to military drummer in His Majesty the King's regiment in Norway and now he has finally found a home in the rhythmic complexity of jazz.

He has toured the world and performs both contemporary jazz and stadium rock and is a member of the acclaimed Anglo-Scandinavian trio Phronesis. Eger plays and co-produces for the Norwegian saxophone star Marius Neset's group.
