Exhibition Welcome home at the Children's Culture House Ama'r

What is home? The place where you live in, the place you feel at home - or both? 

NIPÅ's touring exhibition on diversity and architecture called Welcome home will be visiting for four moths the Children's Culture House Ama'r in Denmark. In connection with the exhibition, children can participate in creative workshops and discover the possibilities of architecture. Through inspiration, reflection and practical exercises, the children can tell what is important to them when they create their own home without the influence of adults. The children will build conrete house models to show their thoughts and ideas, which also become part of the exhibition.

The workshops are led by the Danish architects and pedagogs Charlotte Carstensen and Julie Dufour Wiese from All About A, which organize architecture and designworkshops for children and young aroudn the world.

About Welcome home

Welcome home is initiated by the Åland Islands Multicultural organization in 2013 and was implemented by the Nordic Institute on Åland in collaboration with Architect Michael Donalds and The Cultural History Museum of Åland.

Welcome home has been published as an interview and photo book in Swedish and English and has been touring as a special exhibition at the NIPÅ Gallery in 2014, the Venice Biennale in 2016, the Cultural History Museum of Åland in 2017 and now in the Children's Culture House Ama'r in 2018.
