Cultural power

Culture for schoolchildren on Åland

Kulturkraft (translated into english: cultural power) is a project that enables culture in Åland schools. Kulturkraft aims to offer elementary school students a rich and free range of artistic experiences in their school environment.

The first step is an Open Call where cultural actors on Åland are invited to apply to be part of the offer for primary schools with the deadline 15th February 2023. A selection committee consisting of representatives of NIPÅ, primary school teachers, Rädda Barnen, SKUNK, artist/cultural organization, library and, if possible, a school student, select the cultural projects presented in a digital catalogue. The catalog will be ready on March 1st, 2023.

Primary schools can choose one or more cultural productions and or workshops that suit their wishes and needs, from the catalogue. Based on the schools' own choices, the artists then visit the school in the period 15th March 2023 to May 2024.
