Jonas Wilén is perhaps Åland's foremost artist in social satire. His detailed and humorous illustrations are often very much appreciated by many, and also to concern for some. "The Week's Wilén" has become an absolutely nessecary illustration in the local newspaper "Nya Åland", and it helps the people on Åland to look at both the local community and the world outside with a great deal of humor and perspective.

We at the Nordic Institute in Åland (NIPÅ) got a great laugh when we saw that our intensive work with digital culture in different areas (now first through our live-streamed Friday concerts at nipialive.ax, the digital peace talks etc.), had been the foucs in Wilén's latest illustration. He always delivers spot-on pictures of Åland "right now".

”-Social satires make us reflect on our world and at the same time laugh a little. I think that reflective art always is important, and perhaps even more important in times of crisis. Now if ever there is reason to laugh no matter how depressing and dark the situation might look." says Jonas Wilén.
