Lamori is an band from Åland playing a sort of spooky Gothic rock. The Nordic Institute in Åland (NIPÅ) works hard to find a variation in style and genre in the live broadcast Friday concerts at nipalive.ax. With Lamori's concert we get a total contrast to what has been previously presented in the online concerts. It's going to be tough. It's going to be dark. It´s going to be absolutely gothic fantastic.
Gothic rock is a music genre that developed during the late 1970´s to become a distinct style of music. The music is known for its dark sounds and themes. The genre has had a great influence on popular culture, which led to gothic metal, the gothic clothing styles and a broad gothic subculture. Lamori's soundscape combines Gothic metal with a dark wave of modern rock and everything there in between.
The music is based in the dark's reservoirs and neon-lit nightmares. The lyrics are inspired by 80´s horrormovies and old romance, with a kind of macabre elegance. The musical inspiration comes from bands like The 69 Eyes, The Doors, Marilyn Manson, HIM, Depeche Mode and Stone Sour.
Singer Matias Juselius tells us that the band kept together wet and dry.
"- Four of us went to the same school, so we have been together for a long time. We are like an old married couple, it gets a little rubbed at the edges sometimes, but then we end up together." Matias previously told Swedish Yle when they were interviewed for their song "An angel by your side" which challenged Vegatoppen at the end of 2019.
"- It's great to use a digital solution in these times. Finding new ways to go when it's closed for regular live performances. What we want to convey is that music in these turbulent times can bring us together. A tool to give people peace and harmony." says Jens from the band.
