About Alandia Big Band
Alandia Big Band is a classic big band that has been performing on stage for over 30 years. The band consists of about 20 people, all of the amateur and semi-professional musicians working in Åland. The band has no regular vocalist, but Anna Rydén and Maria Stenberg are examples of some of the local singingbirds with whom the band has performed.
Right now, the band is led by saxophonist Edward Furbacken. Previously, the band was led by, among others, Lasse Sundblom, Fredrik Erlandsson and Stefan Simonsen and Åke Hillar.
In festival context we have played with artists such as Antti Sarpila, Micke Sörensen, Caroline Wennergren, Elisabeth Ekman, Claes Yngström, Ronnie Svenblad, Peter Asplund and Lars Jansson.
Big band is something very special. The interaction of a larger orchestra gives an extra dynamic and the fact that Åland has its very own big band is something to be proud of!
So now we at the Nordic Institute on Åland, hope for a fantastic big band evening, where Alandia Big Band plays and you are on stage with them! With the microphone or your instrument of choice.
