Plant a seed!

In connection with the ReGeneration Summit (the annual meeting for young people focusing on sustainability), the Nordic Institute in Åland is arranges a small festivity witth focus on sustainibility; the hållbART-festival. The festival (as well as the summit) goes digital this year, and has the theme "Plant a seed".

This year, ReGeneration will be transorming into a digital shape with local meeting places throughout the Nordic region and a common agenda through zoom and livestreams. The little festival that we arrange inconnection to the summit also turn digital, so that everybody can participate and follow in the various parts of the festival, from all over the Nordic countries! The summit will take place 20-21.8 and the hållbART-festival will continue even during the weekend with various programs during 22-23.8. Below you will find an overview of all the program and information on how and where you can see and take part in them.

Thursday, August 20th

  • Plant a seed!

Short inspirational film on how sustainable actions can create critical actions that in turn can inspire others for a sustainable society.

A film at nipalive.ax, where we get inspired by junk- and trash art. A creative action that focuses on the littering problem in the world's oceans, around the Baltic Sea and on our own beaches.

Friday, August 21st

  • Meditative Powertalk: Environment x Humans

Maxi Shilov and Michael Polejaev, creators of Aestetik Documentary Film and founders of New Visual Culture Foundation, will in a short movie on about 15 minutes, att share their deep vision on impact of environment on humans and their activity today and tomorrow in a form of meditation. It will be a meditative talk in wild nature. Nature where we started and will always be connected with.

  • Livemusic with Yohan Henriksson & Emil Grönvall

Yohan and Emil are a duo who have played together for over ten years. They mainly play covers and will offer half an hour of personal favorites performed with guitars and vocals. The concert can be seen live at NIPÅ's premises on Storagatan 9, Mariehamn, or via nipalive.ax and IP TV channel 65.

Saturday, August 22nd

  • Johan Karlsson, recycling artist

Johan Karlsson is one of Åland's best recycling artists. Saturday August 22nd you will have the opportunity to follow his art making in his studio through this livestream. During four hours, NIPÅ will broadcast live and follow how Johan creates a work of art. Watch the livestream at nipalive.ax or on IP-TV channel 65. The sculpture is then exhibited in NIPÅ's Gallery on Storagatan 9 from. August 23rd.

Sunday, August 23rd

In "Esplananden" - a beautiful avenue in Mariehamn surounded by trees, you can enjoy a small trash-ensemble on Sunday, August 23rd. They which will play music on homemade instruments, garbage, trash and recycled material. Along with the music, you will also experience a perfromance act with a focus on our environment and the desire for closeness.

  • Linnea Sundblom, actor

Linnea will do a physical theater about birth, social distance, the desire to be close, the desire for closeness, wrapped in plastic.
“ – When I think about sustainability, I think of birth, the experiences we carry with us and the trails we leave behind us. It is said that we have come from soil, but if you are to believe what is said about the environment and that it is true that some substances are never broken down, does that not mean, for example, that our children will soon come from plastic? ” says Linnea.

  • Irina Fisun, fashiondesigner

Irina will create a suit made exclusively of recycled materials, primarily plastics and textiles. This year's theme at the hållbART-festival is "Plant a seed", and the concept is multifaceted. Among other things, we can reveal that this part of the program is a small seed, a taste of what is to come, next year. Then (during 2021´s festival) we get to see a more comprehensive fashionshow that we produce in collaboration with Irina Fisun, with the aim of raising extra focus on SDG 12, sustainable consumption and production.

  • Kim Jansson, Amanda Blomqvist & Anton Johansson, musicians

This is small ensemble that will create music on homemade instruments, garbage, trash and recycled material. Some of the musicians in the small ensemble are Kim Jansson, Amanda Blomqvist and Anton Johansson. In symbiosis with actor Linnea Sundblom, they will create a musical landscape and explore the musical in recycled material.
