Are you between the ages of 13 and 18 and enjoy writing diaries, poems, shopping lists, short stories or mobile notes? In this course you will practice practicing stories, poems, environments and characters in an inviting, writing community.
Together, we will explore different ways to approach wordsmithing through writing exercises and text conversations.
You do not need any writing experience from before, just an open mind and a desire to explore your own story.
About the lecturers:
Jorunn is 22 years old and is studying literature in Stockholm. She has previously studied creative writing at the "Österlens folkhögskola" and she has also worked as a journalist. Jorunn writes poems and lyrical prose about the world beyond the senses, femininity, life in space and the human psyche. In the fall, she will learn more about writing at "Skurups folkhögskola".
Norah is 21 years old and is studying documentary film production at Öland. She has studied creative writing at Jakobsberg Folk High School in Stockholm and worked with cultural journalism. Right now, she is working on the poem collection "Rådjursland", which is about archipelago growth, heritage, resident and finding back to her traditions.
Jorunn and Norah have been friends since the age of ten and have since collaborated on various creative projects - from contributions in the Young Band music competition to poetry reading on Mariehamn's Literature days and working together on a newspaper on the editorial side. As teenagers, they were longing for a greater writing context, and discovered on their own that writing was something you could actually do. Today they both work on their own literary projects on the side of the studies.

When? July 31st - August 2nd, 2020.
Time? 10.00 - 14.00 all three days with one hour of lunch between 11.30-12.30. med en timmes lunchpaus mellan 11.30-12.30. Coffee and snacks are included all the course days.
Wherer? Nordic institute on Åland, Storagatan 9, Mariehamn.
If this is not possible due to restriction, the course will take place via Zoom.
